  11. The Electronic Catalog on this CD comes to you with list prices. You can update this information with your customer-specific pricing by importing the latest product files into the Electronic Catalog.

  13. If you are a registered TD InterAct user, you can download this data from either TDonline or TD's Web site.

  15. How to Become a TD InterAct User
  16.  
  17. Registering to use TD InterAct is easy -- just complete a copy of the TD InterAct User Agreement and fax it to 813-538-5823.  Your user ID and password will be mailed to you within 5 business days.  There are no fees or obligations. You can print a copy of the agreement by following these steps:

  19. Note:  You must close this panel to perform the following steps.

  21. 1. If you already have Adobe Acrobat Reader (tm) installed on your computer, skip to step 2.  If not, exit this screen and click on ΓÇ£Manufacturer ToolsΓÇ¥ to install it now.

  23. 2. At the left side of main menu screen, click TDonline.  The TDonline screen appears.

  25. 3. At the left side of the TDonline screen, click User Agreement. Adobe Acrobat Reader displays the TD InterAct User Agreement.

  27. 4. On the File menu, click Print.  Adobe Acrobat Reader prints the agreement.

  29. If you prefer, you can print the appropriate User Agreement from TD's Web site at http://www.techdata.com/content/cd/useragr.html#password.

  31. How to Download Prices from TD's Web site

  33. 1. Access the TD's Web site at http://www.techdata.com and select the country where you do business.

  35. 2. In the Products and Tools section of the page, click the Update your TDonCD Price files link.
  36.  
  37. 3. When the password box appears, type your TD InterAct user ID and password in the appropriate boxes and click OK.

  39. 4. When the price files page appears, select:
  40.     
  41.     prodcod.exe
  42.     
  43. Your browser and operating system prompt you to specify where on your hard drive the new file should be saved.

  45. Note:  These steps transfer the new data to the appropriate directory on your computer.  Before the Electronic Catalog can use this information, you must import this new data into the application.  To continue, see:  How to import the current prices.

  47. How to Download Prices from TDonline

  49. 1. Log on to TDonline and select the Download option from the Maintenance menu.
  50.  
  51. 2. From the list on the download screen, select prodcod.exe.
  52.  
  53. 3. Click the Receive Marked button.  TDonline displays the Save As dialog box with a default data path for the TDonline program.
  54.  
  55. 4. Change the data path to c:\tdoncd\apps\tdepl\data.
  56.  
  57. 5. Click OK.  The system copies prodcod.exe to the specified directory.

  59. 6. Close TDonline.

  61. Note:  These steps transfer the new data to the appropriate directory on your computer.  Before the Electronic Catalog can use this information, you must import this new data into the application.  To continue, see:  How to import the current prices.

  63. How to Import Current Prices

  65. 1. If the Electronic Catalog is running, close it.
  66.  
  67. 2. Run the update.bat file.  You can do this either from the DOS prompt or from the Windows Run line. You can also just double-click the file name in the Windows File Manager or in the Windows95 Explorer.  See your operating system manual for instructions.

  69. 3. When the update process is complete, restart the Electronic Catalog.  A message indicates that the data files need to be reindexed, gives an estimate of how long the process will take, and asks if you want to proceed.

  71. Warning!  Reindexing requires exclusive file access.  If you decide to proceed, be sure no other users are running the Electronic Catalog.  Also, if you decide to proceed, do not interrupt the reindexing process.  Doing so may corrupt your data and require a complete reinstallation of TDonCD.

  73. You may select NO to postpone the process or YES to proceed.  You must reindex the data to restart the Electronic Catalog.

  75. 4. When the reindexing is complete, the Electronic Catalog displays the updated information whenever you look up a product.

  77. Note:  SourceMaster uses the same data files for Tech Data products, but you must refresh the SourceMaster data first.  See the SourceMaster online Help for details.
